================================================================ Professional Radio - Customer Programming Software R05.00.00 ================================================================ Known CPS Issues: ---------------- 1) If your PC is running the first release of Microsoft Windows 95 and Internet Explorer has not been installed, you may experience problems in installing and running the CPS due to certain components of the operating system being out of date. To eliminate this problem two Microsoft patches have been included on the CPS CD. If you experience any problems under Windows 95, please go to the CD and run: /Win95Patches/40comupd.exe /Win95Patches/dcom95.exe and then re-install the CPS. 2) On some PCs, the CPS may abnormally terminate if Print Preview is attempted on the Print Custom screen. This problem only occurs when Print All is selected. This problem has been observed on Compaq Windows 98 computers with the following programs running: * Easy Access Internet Program (cpqEasyAcc.exe) * Compaq Internet Watchdog Program (watchdog.exe) If this CPS function is to be used, it is recommended that these programs be removed from the PC startup. 3) When the tree view is printed some nodes may overlap on the printout and an extra blank page may be printed. This issue is more likely to occur on large codeplug configurations. 4) On some printers, the columns in some printed tables might be slightly wider than they should be causing the table to spread horizontally onto a second page. Major CPS Enhancements: ----------------------- 1) Personality Assignment Wizard. This feature which can be activated from a button on the toolbar or from the Feature menu provides a quick an easy way to assign personalities into zones in ascending order. 2) Drag & Drop personality assignment. On the "Tree View" window the user is now able to select single or multiple personalities and append them to existing zones by "dropping" them on the required zone, or place them in a completely new zone by dropping them on the "Personality Assignment to Zone" node. 3) Print Summary. This feature which can be activated from a button on the toolbar or from the File -> Print Choices menu generates a summary of the most important information programmed into the radio. This summary can either be sent straight to the printer or saved as a plain text file. 4) Auto setting of TX fields from RX fields. By enabling the new options found in the View -> Options -> Custom page the CPS will automatically copy the user entered receive frequency to the transmit frequency field with an optional offset; copy the receive and DPL/TPL code to the transmit DPL/TPL code; copy the receive signaling system to the transmit signaling system. 5) Table view for Conventional Personalities. A new navigation button now appears on all conventional personalities that allows the user to toggle between the existing page view mode and the new table view mode. 6) Allow more than 16 channels per zone in Mobile radios. The maximum number of channels that can be assigned to any one zone is now limited only by the maximum number of personalities available for that model, instead of being limited to 16 as with previous releases. 7) Default file name is radio serial number. When a radio is read and the codeplug information saved to file, the default name for that file will be the radio's serial number instead of "Device" as with previous releases. 8) Improved notification for invalid fields. By enabling the new options found on the View -> Options -> Main page the user can cause the CPS to generate a beep whenever an invalid value is entered; change the invalid field to a different color; ask to the user for confirmation before deleting any item. 9) Windows 2000 compatibility. The new release has been tested as compatible with the Windows 2000 operating system. 10) Improved table layout. When items are presented in a table format the table columns have been resized to fit the information that they contain. Furthermore the user may resize any column or hide a column completely (by clicking once on the column header and then right clicking for the extended menu). 11) Improved printed output. Printouts now include the radio model number and serial number of every page. The column widths of printed tables have now been optimized so that they are only as wide as necessary. By enabling "Templates" on the File -> Print Choices -> Custom Print page the user may create a print template which specifies exactly which fields should be included in the printout and which fields should be omitted. 12) Window resizing. The user may now resize any window. 13) TX only personalities for Mobile radios. A new checkbox has been added to the Conventional Personality Advanced page which will make that personality transmit only and disable all receive capabilities as is required when the radio is used in certain repeater configurations. 14) Phone "Back Porch" delay timer. Selects the amount of time the radio remains in phone mode after sending the deaccess code. This allows the radio a transition time to re-establish normal Conventional or Trunking dispatch repeater access operation. Programming Hints: ------------------ 1) It should be noted that a new/added conventional personality must be assigned to a zone/channel position. To add a zone to a radio click the "+" in a Personality Assignment to Zone Window. To add a conventional personality to the radio, click the "+" on a Conventional Personality Window. To add an additional conventional personality to a zone go to the Personality Assignment to Zone:Channel window for the desired zone. Click the right mouse key within the channel table to add a conventional personality entry. Please read the CPS help for additional information. 2) Speed Dial buttons should not be programmed to the P1, P2, and P3 buttons on radios, which overlay these buttons with the menu navigation keys. The speed dial buttons will not operate in this configuration because the buttons function as the menu navigation keys when phone mode is entered. 3) When adding a new conventional personality, verify that the bandwidth selected on the Conventional Personality Basic screen is correct. Incorrect selections will lead to poor radio performance.
